Choosing the Chevrolet Cruze Amid the New Cars in India

I won’t be wrong if I say that the Chevrolet Cruze and the Chevrolet Beat are riding herd amid the new cars in India. Whether it is the exterior styling or interior décor or engine capacities or performance and more, you will just love driving them flaunting your style statement. While a neighbor in my left bought the Chevrolet Cruze, the neighbor in my right bought the Chevrolet Beat and both the cars get parked in close quarters in front of our apartment. I was not that crazy about these two new cars in India but after my eyes fell repeatedly on the sedan and hatchback, I am now all geared up to buy one. But now I am in a dilemma whether to go for the Beat or the Cruze.

As I don’t own a car and had been planning for long, I have been looking online, especially at car portals for new cars in India. Now that I have accumulated the funds, enough to get me the Beat, I am thinking why not get the Chevrolet Cruze with the help of a car loan to reimburse the remaining amount. Higher level of power and torque resulting in excellent acceleration and engine performance are features common in both the new cars, but a sedan is a sedan after all. The Cruze is available in both petrol and diesel engines whilst the Beat being only in petrol. And I want my car in diesel.

On Existing And New Cars In India

Volkswagen, Ford, Chevrolet and Maruti are all trying to capture the car market in both sedan and hatchback segments. All car reviews carry lot of information posted by real users, especially at car portals. The new cars in India launched of these models do compete in terms of style, features, engine capacity, etc. But it is Chevrolet that is taking the lead with positive comments as substantiated by the countless car reviews.

Besides coming out with new models, GM is giving its existing cars a facelift. Special mention needs to be made of the CNG Aveo and CNG Spark of the existing models and Cruze and Beat of the new cars segment. Sale of cars will never witness a stop; in fact it is increasing by the day. Everyday, you will find more and more cars added on the roads.

The Chevrolet Beat, one of the most stylish, I must stay the most stylish amid the new cars in India stands tall in the horde. It is a real feast for the eyes. As I already own a hatchback, the CNG Spark by Chevrolet, I don’t have any plans of buying another car. But my habit of reading car reviews as time-pass has not stopped. When I find many a car review carrying praises about my CNG Spark, I feel so proud!

As per a car review, I am surprised to find that there is almost a 10% increase of sale of cars this year compared to last year’s sales.

Handling and safety of the Chevrolet Beat

Chevrolet BeatMuch has been talked about the braking, handling, and safety aspects of the Chevrolet Beat amongst the new cars in India. The dynamic and efficient suspension system - rear variety of Compound Link Type and front variety of Mc Pherson strut type – all powered with gas filed shock absorbers, facilitates in extra driving comfort as well as stability.

The sophisticated braking system enables safe driving. Using the Anti Lock Braking System (ABS), you can prevent wheel lockup during a sudden braking on highways or busy streets. You can easily manage unexpected braking surprises on the road with the front and rear brakes. De-accelerating of the car in high speed is thus a possibility due to the powerful braking system that the Chevrolet Beat in India comes equipped with. This is one of the key reasons why people have fallen in love with this car amid the collection of new cars in India launched during more or less the same time.

There are both active and passive safety features, enabling safety of the driver and passengers. In case a collision takes place, a cushioning effect is produced by the presence of Dual SRS airbag, thus reducing the impact of collision. Moreover, to add to the safety factor are the 2.5 mph impact proof bumpers helping reduce the impact of any injury. Clear visibility during the night is made feasible with the halogen headlamps. So, even if you are driving at high speed at night, the roads become clearly visible to you.

Welcoming New Cars in India

I shall prove wrong if I say that you don’t love cars. Given the comfort and convenience, today almost all urban families and majority of the population even in small towns own a car or two or three or more each. New cars in India are always welcomed with zest by car connoisseurs. I am a car freak; driving is my passion. Whenever I get free time, I zoom out with my family either for a long drive or for a picnic or for sightseeing. I never get tired. Almost all new cars introduced in India, except those really expensive ones costing several lakhs and even crores, are tried by me. You must be wondering how?

Once I like a car in the market, I buy it. Using it for a year or less, I sell it off with loss of few thousands and even lakhs. Then I buy another one and the cycle has been continuing till date. The latest that attracted me was the Aveo U-VA. I bought it few months back and have been driving it without any complaints. No car has yet left any cause of grievance. I am liking the Aveo U-VA very much. Though I am all geared to buy another car, this will remain in my garage, and I shall use it often. It is easy to zoom with the Chevrolet Aveo U-VA in busy streets and park it even in congested areas. Space, performance, fuel efficiency, competency and other features are all unmatched!

New Launch Cars

2007 has been a great year for the car lovers so far. It has witnessed a slew of new launches across all car segments heating up the war amongst all major car manufacturers. This, however, has lead to a healthy competition and a good variety for the customers to choose from.

Car major General Motors India has been leading the way with a series of car launches across all segments. It kick-started the journey with the launch Chevrolet U-VA in January 2007. The saga continued with ‘Chevrolet Optra Platinum’ limited edition, followed by the launch of much awaited 'Chevrolet Spark' in April 2007. GM continued the momentum though the launch of Chevrolet Optra Magnum and New Chevrolet Aveo Anniversary Edition in the subsequent months.

Expanding the small car category further, Hyundai Motors is working on a hatchback — code-named Pa — positioned between Santro and Getz and aimed squarely at the new Zen Estilo.

'Mahindra Renault Logan' hit the India roads in the mid 2007. This was one of the much-awaited vehicles and came with a bang with a fiercely competitive price tag of Rs 4.5-5 lakhs.

This year also made way for the big names. BMW began its journey in India with the 3 series, assembled at its factory in Chennai. DaimlerChrysler also has brought in its M class. Amongst the other prominent launches this year were Maurti SX4, Grand Vitara and Ford Mondeo.

GM India has brought in the Optra Magnum Diesel TCDi and is slated to bring in the diesel version of Aveo by the 3rd quarter of the year. Optra Magnum was placed against the likes of Scoda Octavia, Honda Accord and Toyota Corolla, and it has already been well received by the consumers.

Fast Cars

Exhaustive market research has revealed that there is growing demand for fast cars among the design-oriented consumers and the young executives.

Among the fast cars that we have today, first name that rings a bell is General Motors’ Chevrolet SRV which is India’s first Premium Sportsback car. The SRV’s powerful 1.6-litre petrol engine with VGIS technology has four valves per cylinder and dual overhead camshafts driven by a toothed belt for silent operation. The engine generates 101 PS and 140 Nm of torque. Despite excellent performance characteristics, fuel efficiency is ensured thanks to the engine’s unique VGIS technology, which provides a uniform spread of power and torque from low rpm upward.

Then we have Chevrolet Optra Magnum. Magnum’s Turbocharged Common Rail Direct Injection has an engine utilizes second-generation common rail technology. Diesel fuel is injected at a very high pressure of 1,600 bar through a multi-step injection process. The Optra diesel is faster and more powerful than many petrol driven cars currently on the market, delivering peak power of 120.5 ps and peak torque of 314 Nm (which is more than 100 Nm higher than the Skoda Octavia).
